New Staircase Lighting: AZ Sint-Lucas Hospital Gent

Despite these difficult times - the coronavirus is worldwide omnipresent, and people are instructed to stay at their homes, but there are a lot of great people who don't. Amongst them are doctors, nurses, and medical staff who work tirelessly for the general public, day and night, under difficult conditions.

AZ Sint-Lucas is a modern and social hospital located in the heart of Ghent. The hospital spans two campuses and serves as a general hospital for all medical disciplines. Additionally, it offers specialized programs in cardiology, pulmonology, radiotherapy, neurosurgery, dialysis, and interventional radiology, among others. AZ Sint-Lucas boasts the second-largest maternity unit in Flanders, a comprehensive emergency department with MUG (mobile emergency group) service, and an advanced interventional heart center.

With the completion of the new Block G (consultations) which is part of the municipal spatial implementation plan of the city of Gent, our Cube wall & ceiling lights made of plywood were installed in the staircase with 5 floors for dynamic lighting. The arrangement of the lighting is visible from the outside due to the high glass cladding.

Lighting planning for this project was realized by Tine Decleer from LICHT + VORM Sprl in Jabbeke, Belgium.

Cube lights up all kinds of interiors with its sleek, round design and warm light. It’s perfect for enhancing any hallway, corridor or stairway – or even a ceiling.
