New Staircase Lighting: AZ Sint-Lucas Hospital Gent

Despite these difficult times - the coronavirus is worldwide omnipresent, and people are instructed to stay at their homes, but there are a lot of great people who don't. Amongst them are doctors, nurses, and medical staff who work tirelessly for the general public, day and night, under difficult conditions.

AZ Sint-Lucas is a modern and social hospital in the heart of Gent. The hospital is spread over two campuses and is a basic hospital for all medical disciplines. There are also specialized programs for, among others, cardiology pulmonology radiotherapy, neurosurgery, dialysis, interventional radiology. The hospital has the second-largest maternity unit in Flanders, an extensive emergency department with MUG service, and an interventional heart center.

With the completion of the new Block G (consultations) which is part of the municipal spatial implementation plan of the city of Gent, our Cube wall & ceiling lights made of plywood were installed in the staircase with 5 floors for dynamic lighting. The arrangement of the lighting is visible from the outside due to the high glass cladding.

Lighting planning for this project was realized by Tine Decleer from LICHT + VORM Sprl in Jabbeke, Belgium.

Cube lights up all kinds of interiors with its sleek, round design and warm light. It’s perfect for enhancing any hallway, corridor or a stairway – or even a ceiling.
